Teach!

With School starting soon I did a search on the word “TEACH” in the NKJV

The results is that teach showed up 106 times in 104 verses!

Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, especially concerning the day you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me, ‘Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’
Deuteronomy 4:9-10 NKJV

Life Application Study Bible:
Moses wanted to make sure that the people did not forget all they had seen God do, so he urged parents to teach their children about God’s great miracles. This helped parents remember God’s faithfulness and provided the means for passing on from one generation to the next the stories recounting God’s great acts. It is easy to forget the wonderful ways God has worked in the lives of his people. But you can remember God’s great acts of faithfulness by telling your children, friends, or associates what you have seen him do.

Bible Knowledge Commentary
Deuteronomy 4:9
2. The Purpose of the Experience at Horeb (Deu_4:9-14)
The solemn admonition to be careful (an admonition that occurs numerous times in Deut.) and to watch implies that the Israelites constantly faced the danger of falling into a sin which would have brought them to the brink of annihilation as a nation. That sin was idolatry (Deu_4:15-31). The nation could become idolatrous in two related ways. The depravity of the human mind is so great that the great deeds of God for His people (e.g., the Exodus and giving of the Law at Horeb) might slip from their hearts if they did not constantly remind themselves of God’s mighty works.
Or second, through laziness or apathy parents might fail to teach them to their children and thus their children would become idolaters. Deuteronomy lays great stress not on the priests or other religious leaders, but on the parents as the ones responsible for their children’s spiritual education (Deu_4:9-10; Deu_6:7, Deu_6:20; Deu_11:19; Deu_31:13; Deu_32:46). God trusts His great events of revelation, such as His giving the Law at Sinai, to faithful stewards who must never forget them and who must pass them on to their children. (Not forgetting is another emphasis in Deut., occurring in Deu_4:9, Deu_4:23, Deu_4:31; Deu_6:12; Deu_8:11, Deu_8:14, Deu_8:19; Deu_9:7; Deu_25:19.)

For parents the instructions to TEACH their children was so strong, God wanted his laws to be passed down from generation to generation. He wanted each generation to remember Him, and one way was to SHARE Him with others, especially your children, but to share with others His love for you and your love for Him!

What a blessing that He loves us, why would we not want to share that? I struggle so much with “personnel confidence” when it comes to sharing, to telling others about God, for fear they might reject me. I struggle to remember it is not about ME but about HIM! He is the one who died to set us free, HE is the one who paid the price for MY sins. HE his the one who suffered. He is the one who died on the cross. HE his the one who rose again on the third day. HE is the one who loved me enough to do this before I even knew who he was. HE IS ALIVE! HE loves me, even with all my faults and sins, he loves me.

How on earth could I know want to share him with others? SIN! My SIN! I fear it will get in the way, my sin will make my GOD look small, but I forget it is because of my sin that HE is great. He can forgive anything, if only we humble ourselves before him and ask!
