Were You There?

Where you there?

When you get near the end of Job, Job has finally reached a point where he questions God.

God responds with
Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?, Job 38:4a

I think this is an important question when we question the history of the earth, which has been in the news lately with a few debates being on the web. One such debate was between Bill Nye and Ken Ham (http://debatelive.org/).

I wonder if it is presumptuous of man to think he could know what happened in the beginning (no matter when that was). What makes man today think he can know more than the creator of the universe? If you have doubts about who and when created the universe then read Job 38-42. Then go back and read Genesis 1, then Exodus 20. See if you still think it could have taken a long time to create all that we know and see today.

Romans 1:18-23
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
